How to Prepare for Your Consultation

You will be provided with the Zoom link ahead of time.

For the Parent: 

1. Create a clear statement as to what you have tried to do on your own 

2. What are your specific questions?

3. What are your specific challenges? 

4. Please be prepared with 3 or more 60 second videos of you interacting with your child around a life skill.  

 

For the Educator:

1. Create a clear statement as to why you are interested in this approach.

2. In what type of setting do you work with the children?

3. What is the primary diagnosis of the children in your class/practice?

4. Do you want to integrate academic and functional work content?

5. What are your specific questions?

6. What are your specific challenges?

What is the Difference Between Consultation Types?

• During the 15 minute free consultation, we will discuss, generally,  how you can apply the teaching approach to your child/ student/ classroom.  

• During a 30 minute consultation, the participant will gain information to support a specific technique, e.g. the use of declarative language.  

• During a 45 minute consultation,  the participant will gain information as to how to implement a specific technique as well as how to program across steps.  

• During a 60 minute consultation, the participant will gain information as to how to implement multiple techniques across steps, materials,  and settings.   

• The package of 6, 30 minute consultations will allow the consultant to get to know your child and the specific challenges that are impeding engagement in the home setting. The input would be specific to overcoming the challenges you and/or you child is presenting.

 

What Happens After the Consultation

You will be given the opportunity to schedule additional consultation sessions, either one more appointments or a package of six sessions.
